My name is Dekeira Horne. I am a 5th year senior at Rutgers University studying Dietetics. My interests include long term care (neurodegenerative diseases), herbal/ alternative medicine and women’s health. Eventually , I would like to open up my own nursing home where I would cater to residents of Caribbean descent.
I do believe I’ve experienced barriers to opportunities as a racialized person but it has only motivated me to continue pursuing my dreams of diversifying dietetics. BIPOC RD’s2B are needed the most right now to cater to our people who are in need of healthcare reform and the proper nutritional guidance.
